A little about me
about my church and activities
Hello everyone...Thanks for checking out my site. First a little about me. My name is Kevin Higby, 19 years old, from Arnold, Missouri. I currently attend Jefferson College as a Freshman, majoring in Computer Networking. it's a community college, one of the cheapest in the state...one of the reasons why I choose it. And I am involved in a club at the college, BSU (Baptist Student Union) which is a very cool club that you can join to meet new friends...and to basically have a good time learning, and talking about Jesus, (which I am very much interested in). Some of my hobbies include: Computers, the Bible, hanging out with friends, working, giving advice to others and cheering people up, studying (yeah right!), Talking on the phone, and watching sports (mainly Baseball and football) whenever I get the chance. I have 2 older brothers, Scott, 26, and Jason, 24. Out of the two, I get along with Jason the best. He comes over to the house a good 3 times a week to check up on me..and to talk and basically hang out.My parents are John and Jackie, they're pretty cool....sometimes anyway, and I have a good relationship with them. Anyone that knows me can probably tell you that I am a very good friend to them. I'm always in a good mood, and I hate to see people sad....and I have the ability to cheer people up (Just ask my friend Andrea) I love being around my friends, and if I were to get asked the question of "what my friends would say behind my back?" I would say "a very good friend to people, fun to be around (once I get to know someone), always joking around, lighting up a dull, boring room I've been told by one of my friends that I'm a "True" Christian. but my favorite reply (as my good friend Sam would say) would have to be "one Crazy Christian" :)
I currently attend Mt. Caramel Baptist Church, located at the corner of Jeffco Blvd and Telegraph Rd (right next to 7-11 gas station) We have been in existance since 1990. A lot of changes are going on right now (especially in our youth group) we got a new Superintendant, basically a new song leader, and a new Sunday school teacher for our Adult class as well as a new teacher for our Youth group. Our Sunday school teacher's name is Angie, and she has a lot of stuff planned in the next couple months for our youth group. a couple yard sales, and a Spaghetti-Chili Mac dinner....the dates on all those are listed below

the story of my Christain Life!
How exactly did I become a Christian? Well, I have been going to church ever since I was a little kid, but, I never went to church regularly, only like once or twice a month. I skipped around to a lot of churches, since most of them had bus services. I always found something wrong with the church I went to (the Preacher always yelled, or he was boring, I didn't like someone, etc...) so I always left and went to another one... at this point I never committed myself to getting saved or anything.. In 1991...I went to the church that I am currently going to, (Mt. Caramel Baptist church) and I actually liked it. But again...I never went regularly, only like 1 or 2 times a month. One Saturday my sunday school teacher visited my house...gave me my first ever Bible, and we talked a while...and he asked me to start going every week. I told him that "if God can prove that he is real, that I would start to get more involved in church and start going every week" well...a couple years later, God proved to me that he was real....In August of 1994, I got very, very sick for several days...(always slept, very tired, no energy, very dry mouth, didn't eat anything because of loss of appetite, and when I did eat, I couldn't keep it down, always thirsty, lost 20 lbs in three days!!) so I went to the hospital for blood tests..and found out that I had diabetes. My blood sugar was 1385, very, very high (normal is only 120) Doctor's told me that in the condition that I was in, I should have died. So by keeping me alive...That is how God proved to me that he exists....Ever since then....I have been involved in church (teaching kids in Jr. Church for 3 years until 98) I was an assistant Sunday school teacher for my youth group for a couple months (and still am). I am currently the Treasurer for our Youth Group..I keep track of all the money, and basically decide if we have enough money to go places, sometimes out of state. We have a lot of projects going on right now for our youth group (Yard sales to raise money, Agape concert in May (getting ready for that), and tons of other stuff at our church (we got a new Youth Minister/Sunday school teacher, who wants to do stuff)That's about it right now....keep checking back for events!
